About the Role
Swim Instructor
Streamline Teams Swim Lesson Academy is hiring swim instructors to join our team for the upcoming swim seasons. We are a veteran-owned, women-led swim school serving families across Lee, Moore, Harnett, and surrounding counties in central North Carolina. Our region has a strong military-connected population near Fort Bragg, and while we proudly serve all families, many of our swimmers and instructors are military-affiliated.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and families, is comfortable in the water, and wants meaningful part-time seasonal work. Swim instructors provide in-water instruction for swimmers ages 6 months and older, support swimmer progress, communicate with parents, and help create a safe, encouraging, and professional learning environment.
Our programs include private lessons, Parent & Me classes, small group swim, adult learn-to-swim, stroke development, refresher lessons, and adaptive swim lessons. Every child comes to our program with their own background, comfort level, learning style, and unique needs. Instructors must be willing to work with each swimmer where they are, regardless of skill level, previous experience, confidence, fear, physical ability, or background.
Responsibilities include:
Teaching private, small group, adaptive, and/or Parent & Me swim lessons based on swimmer age, ability, and program needs.
Providing safe, patient, and encouraging in-water instruction for swimmers ages 6 months through adulthood.
Supporting swimmers with a wide range of skill levels, backgrounds, comfort levels, and learning needs.
Participating in required in-water training and out-of-water administrative training.
Communicating professionally with parents by phone and email when needed.
Helping schedule makeup lessons and support basic lesson coordination.
Collecting or confirming required waivers, makeup policy documents, and program paperwork.
Maintaining a consistent lesson schedule during assigned teaching seasons.
Representing Streamline Teams with professionalism, warmth, patience, and reliability.
Requirements:
Must be willing to teach and support swimmers ages 6 months and older.
Must be willing to work with every child as an individual, regardless of background, skill level, water confidence, previous experience, or unique learning needs.
Must be willing to attend a Water Safety Instructor certification course hosted by a Red Cross provider in North Carolina. Streamline Teams will cover the cost of certification.
Must successfully pass the WSI certification course before beginning work as a swim instructor.
Must be willing to participate in both in-water and out-of-water training.
Must be willing to complete both in-water instruction and administrative responsibilities.
Must be able to commit to a consistent schedule of at least two days per week for four consecutive weeks during at least two seasons within the same calendar year. Examples include Spring and Summer, Summer and Fall, or Spring and Fall.
Ideal candidates are:
Patient, dependable, and comfortable working with children and families.
Strong communicators with parents, coworkers, and students.
Comfortable in the water and open to learning Streamline Teams’ teaching methods.
Organized enough to help with scheduling, paperwork, and parent communication.
Compassionate, adaptable, and willing to meet each swimmer where they are.
Interested in water safety, child development, adaptive instruction, family education, or aquatics.
Military-affiliated applicants, veterans, military spouses, college students, teachers, coaches, parents, and anyone looking for flexible seasonal work are encouraged to apply.
Training and Certification:
Streamline Teams covers the cost of WSI certification for qualified applicants. Instructors must complete and pass the certification course before beginning work. Additional Streamline Teams training will include both in-water teaching preparation and administrative training so instructors feel prepared to support swimmers and families confidently.
Schedule:
This is a seasonal part-time position. Applicants must be able to select at least two consistent days per week to work for four consecutive weeks during at least two seasons in the same calendar year.
Location:
Lessons are held across central North Carolina, including Lee, Moore, Harnett, and surrounding counties near the Fort Bragg region.
